This course will update physicians and nurse practitioners in the fields of Obstetrics and Pediatrics on the management of pregnant women who are opioid dependent and their newborns who need careful monitoring and detoxification from opioids. Special attention will be to the medication assisted treatments that are now being widely used and encouraged.
A two hour presentation that will include a PowerPoint presentation followed by a roundtable discussion with facilitators of case material and problems in caring for this population.
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint providership of the University of Nevada, Reno School of Medicine and the Nevada Psychiatric Association.
